Christmas Subway Art

Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” There is an old proverb that says, “Words are the keys to the heart.”  Words are very powerful tools, which can be used for good or evil.  I actually love the power of words.  I’ve always been a lover of the English language, spelling, writing, word games; words are very important to me.

I use words to decorate all over my home.  I have reusable stickers of Bible verses, prayers, monograms, framed word art, stitched samplers.  Words are very charming decor and they can speak to the heart of a home.  I’ve been seeing a lot of subway art lately.  It is not only attractive, but also a very inexpensive tool for decorating.

I visited my local discount store and purchased two black 5×7 frames for $0.95 each.  I went home and got right to work on my project.  I utilized this link from Pinterest for one of my favorite Bible verses.

Then I began thinking about how much I ADORE Christmas carols.  Wouldn’t it be nice to frame a verse or chorus from my favorite?  So I used the internet to find my favorite verse from “Away in a Manger”.  I copied and pasted it into a MS Word document. Then I played around a little with some of the words changing their fonts, sizes, etc. and added a black/white graphic.  Then I printed it on white cardstock, trimmed and framed it.

The cost of supplies for this Christmas art for two frames, paper, toner, tax was less than $3!  I love decorating that fits in my tiny budget, but speaks largely to the heart!
