“My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.” Psalm 62:5-6
This verse has truly blessed my journey over the past couple of months. I had been growing weary of waiting for God to answer several prayers. I’m still waiting… But, while waiting I’ve learned that God is waiting too.
He so longs to save those loved ones for which I’ve been praying, to have them reconciled to Himself. When desperately crying out on my knees to Him on their behalf, He is right there crying and waiting with me.
When I’m diligently seeking and awaiting His wisdom on a decision, He is waiting on me. Waiting for me to allow Him to surrender to His will and not my own. He is waiting for me to allow Him to be the Lord of this area of my life, instead of trying to control the situation. He’s waiting for me to stop having a meltdown every time I don’t get His answer in my time. He’s patiently waiting for me to stop moving with the rushing water, and to instead hold onto Him, and allow Him to be my strength.
These are things I never really thought about until a recent Ladies Ministry Bible study at our church. We studied The Sacred Echo
by Margaret Feinberg. It was an amazingly eye opening study of the many different ways God echoes in our lives. He faithfully pursues an intimate relationship and communication with us.
Many times we pray, but do we really listen? Do we really seek Him with all of our heart while we pray or are we simply awaiting a specific and sometimes selfish answer to the prayer? We get weary in the waiting, but we must remember that our Heavenly Father is waiting, too. He’s waiting on so many things: our attitudes, our submission, the surrender of others, for our undivided attention, for our trust and obedience.
I never realized how many things God waits for. Today I am so very thankful for God’s patient waiting and more importantly that He never gives up. He is persistent and faithful, and He is waiting with us filling us with His patience and strength when we seek and surrender. Thank you, Father, for your love and patience with me!
